Unfortunately they exist, and Stanley Burzynski is a well known one. As an oncologist, it’s hard to tell cancer patients when their prognosis is poor, when medical science has nothing more to offer. I understand desperation, and wanting to find a cure, the need for a miracle. As a Western-trained MD, I try to keep an open mind and ensure my patients are offered not only my training but have access to alternative therapies. With that said, there are too many “quack doctors” who prey on these false hopes. It appears that the FDA may be making progress against the Burzynski Clinic which is long overdue.
