Sometimes when I recommend a Palliative Care consultation to my patients, they seem hurt and surprised, as if I’m giving up on them. Quite the opposite, I want them to have the best quality of life possible for the amount of time they have left. While chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery can cure many cancers, there often comes a time when supportive care is the most life-saving treatment.
